Moe Thee Zun aged 50 was among the lists of those who were blacklisted by the government of Myanmar during the military ruling but was fortunately included in a list permitted by the government to return to Myanmar.
During his time, he was considered an active prominent student leader of a pro- democracy rally in 1988 in Yangon where the government executed an all out operation to hunt him down. He is also known as the founder of the Federation of Burma Organization. He left Myanmar in 1990 and stayed in the United States for 2 decades, The Nation news reported.
He arrived at Yangon International Airport with six other political leaders last Saturday without encountering any problem in the immigration. During the military rule in year 1962-2010 around 6,165 Myanmar and foreign nationals were not permitted to enter in Myanmar territory.
But with the recent government implementing series of reforms, allowing the return of people who were blacklisted was part of the development and 2,082 names were given the privileged to come home to Myanmar.
No remarks were heard from him upon his arrival at the airport but he assured to speak before the public on Sunday. Also included in the lists are the two British sons of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San SuuKyi namely Alexander and Kim Aris and a number of foreign journalists, the report said.
